European Marie Sklodowska Curie Innovative Training network program - Early Drug Discovery

AEGIS (Accelerated Early staGe drug dIScovery) is a Marie Skłodowska -Curie Innovative Training Network (ITN) for early stage researchers (ESR) funded by the European Commission under the H2020 Programme, the EU framework programme for research and innovation.

A key research aim of AEGIS is improving the efficiency and success of early stage drug development by combining innovative methods and techniques to tackle difficult but promising targets (i.e. protein-protein interactions), as potentially valuable drug targets are often neglected due to the high risk associated with their validation.  AEGIS is a collaborative action of 11 groups in 7 countries from academia and pharmaceutical industry, combining a balanced portfolio of excellent expertise knowledge of structural and computational based drug design.

Further information: www.aegis-itn.eu

AEGIS will provide a comprehensive and cross-disciplinary structured curriculum for doctoral students in early drug discovery. 15 doctoral thesis fellowships are available in the areas structural biology using NMR and crystallography, computational structural biology and medicinal chemistry.

Contact and information: e-mail to info”at”aegis-itn.eu

Applications must be submitted online at www.aegis-itn.eu.

Conference on Research and Innovation for Maternal and Newborn Health

The Health Directorate of DG Research and Innovation is organising a conference on research and innovation for Maternal and Newborn Health on 8 December in Brussels, and we wish to ask for your assistance in spreading word of this event among your stakeholders.

This event will feature discussions by high-level speakers and expert panels on what research and innovation can do to make the difference in the field of Maternal and Newborn Health under the Sustainable Development Goals. The event will also discuss the successful actions already taken under the Millennium Development Goals and analyse those which proved to be inefficient.

The conference will take place in Square Meeting Centre, Brussels, and will feature participation from a wide array of stakeholders including: researchers, policymakers, health practitioners, research funders, advocates, and NGOs active in low- and middle-income countries.

Please see the website for further information and the draft agenda.

Your help in spreading the word of this event would be a great help to us, and doubtless would be of interest to many researchers and others in your countries.

If you have any enquiries please contact Finnian Hanrahan ().
